朝鮮王朝が開かれるや全州は豊沛之鄕（王の故郷）として重要視され、太祖元年(1392年)には完山留守府に昇格し湖南地域を管轄する全羅道の首府となりました。豊南門は、高麗の恭護王元年(1388年)に崔有慶観察使が築造しましたが、英祖の時（1734年）に趙顯命観察使が府城を大きく改築し、その時にに東・西・北の門は壊され、3階建てであった南門だけが残り、英祖43年3月（1767年）には火災で焼けてしまいましたが観察使 の洪楽仁が城楼を復旧し、名前を豊南門に改名しました。それが近年に時代考証をもとに復元されました。豊南門は、壬辰倭乱（文禄・慶長の役）の時は敵により火をつけられてしまい、またその後、東学軍が全州に進撃した際には豊南門で激戦を繰り広げた末に官軍を撃退し、入城し一時的ではありましたが和約を結ぶなど重要な歴史的瞬間を見てきた歴史的意味の大きな城門です。かつては豊南門の鐘閣で鐘をつくことで府城内に朝夕を知らせていたとされ、現在ではソウルの普信閣の鐘のように１月１日午前0時に除夜の鐘がつかれます。

ケッペ（渡し舟）は束草市内とアバイ村を繋ぐ唯一の交通手段です。対岸までワイヤーロープが2本繋がっており、それぞれに舟が一艘ずつ固定されています。ワイヤーロープに金具をひっかけて引っ張ると船が前進する仕組みになっており、お年寄りや子ども、体が不自由な人を除き、乗船者全員が引っ張らなければ舟は動きません。ケッペはここでしか体験できないので、束草に行ったらぜひ乗ってみましょう。

キム・グァンソクキルは故キム・グァンソクが暮らしていた大鳳洞の防川市場近郊にキム・グァンソクの人生と音楽をテーマに造られた壁画通りです。2010年「防川市場門前成市事業」のひとつとして防川市場の通りに11月から着工し始めたこの通りは中区庁と作家11チームが参加しました。350mの長さの壁面の沿ってキム・グァンソクの銅像があり、壁には彼の様々な姿が描かれています。

民楽水辺公園は、海と休息空間が結合した韓国国内最初の水辺公園で、海雲台と広安里の中間地点に位置しています。面積は1万坪規模で、約4万人を収容でき、地面にはカラーブロックが敷かれ、花壇や日よけ、ベンチなどの便宜施設が備えられています。海を見渡しながら各種イベントも観覧できる3,040平方メートルに及ぶスタンドは、満潮の時には海の水に足を浸けることができる空間です。

小公園から左側の渓谷にかかった飛竜橋を渡れば、権金城（クォングムソン）まで続く道があります。しかし、急な岩道(2.5キロ)を1時間もかけて登らなくてはなりませんが、ケーブルカーを利用すれば容易に権金城に登ることができます。雪岳洞の小公園内の険峻な岩山の上にそびえ立つ2,100ｍの山城が権金城です。権金城が建てられた正確な時期は明らかになっていませんが、新羅時代に権氏と金氏の2人の将軍が戦禍を逃れるために作ったため、権金城と言われているという説があります。ここからは、外雪岳と東海の海が目の前に広がる絶景を眺めることができます。
